大家好， 這是 DCWAHK (www.dcwahk.com) 香港論文指輔導顧問中心的第八個 blog post 。已經有一段時間沒跟大家見面，希望各位一直事事順利。在 2021 年 12月的時候，我們簡單地討論過 Academic writing and language style 學術寫作風格 。 今天我們來多一個關於寫文字風格的小討論。 如何在 Thesis, Dissertation, FYP, Assignment, Essay, Coursework 畢業論文 內 中立 表達意見?   學術寫作時 ，請忘記「我」這個單位 除非是 creative / reflective writing 用到「我」去表達自己的經歷，一般來說，學術寫作裡面是沒有「我」這個單位。沒有「我」這個單位意思是你的看法和找到的結果不能表達出來？不是。相反，在Thesis, Dissertation, FYP, Assignment, Essay, Coursework 畢業論文裡 ，寫作的時候會用持平的態度去表達運.    持平的態度去表達運是重點   例如：     1.    This assignment has discovered that parcel deliveries have been slightly delayed prolonged in Hong Kong.       2.    This assignment argues that the relationship between X and Y is insignificant.       3.    The correlation between is believed to be weak. 大家好 ! 又是 DCWAHK (www.dcwahk.com) 香港論文指輔導顧問中心的 blog post. 上次我們 淺談 academic language style . 今次我們探討一下 Hypothesis (Hypotheses). 什麼是 Hypothesis (Hypotheses) ? 它是出現在 Thesis, Dissertation, Final Year Project, 畢業論文? 或是在 Essay Assignment?  Hypothesis (Hypotheses) 是一句子 , 內𥚃表達了你想透過任何研究去知道答案的提示 ( cue) 。例如 : 每天玩手提電話會令學業成績下降 , 身體健康𨍭差 .   表達了假設 Hypothesis (多個一個假設就是Hypotheses了) 後, 研究可以是primary 或 secondary , 但研究方式實際上是科學化的 .   透過 Data Analysis , 我們大概可以知道假設是可以接受或不 ( 在處理 Null and Alternative Hypothesis (Hypotheses), 要注意 Type 1 and Type 2 Errors 的考慮 ).   Hypothesis (Hypotheses) 是出現在 Quantitative Research  所以大多數情況下, Hypothesis (Hypotheses) 是出現在 Thesis, Dissertation, Final Year Project, 畢業論文 因為這些都是 Research-led 或 Research-driven 研究主導. 但有些特別情況下, Essay 或 Assignment 如果是高要求一點或格式像 Thesis, Dissertation, Final Year Project, 畢業論文 這樣 Research-oriented, Hypothesis (Hypotheses) 也會出現在 Essay, Coursework, 或 Assignment.   基本上, 定立 Hypothesis (Hypotheses) 時要明確和準...

Academic writing, 不論在 essay, assignment, coursework, thesis, dissertation, 或 final year project, 都是要 簡單 直接 正式 ( plain, formal, and direct). 簡單一點 , 它跟 formal business writing 是大同小異 , 你要簡單直接正式的表達 . 賣弄 flowery 文字或句子;   沒有內容的去空談; 用 idioms, phrasal verbs, informal words, colloquial 和 slang 都會失分 (除非那一個是 cultural 或 linguistic 研究, 你需要用到這些去表達某些現像).   例子 1: 我們要表達 工時長 “工資低 令人不開心和有厭力” 我們可以這樣寫 - Long work hours and low wages have induced stress and discontent in some people. 這樣簡單直接又正式 . 你可以用同義詞 salaries, unhappiness 和 caused 代替 wages, discontent 和 induced, 這些同義都可以 .    不要用 Informal Wording 但如果 你寫 People, getting stranded at work, sell thei...

大家好 ! 這是 DCWAHK (www.dcwahk.com) 香港論文指輔導顧問中心的 第 5 個 blog post. 上次我們 淺談了 critical thinking 在 essay, assignment, coursework, thesis, dissertation, 或 final year project 的重要性 . 今次我們深入一小點 critical thinking 的元素 : Reasoning    什麼是 Reasoning 推理 (Thesis, Dissertation, FYP,  Assignment, Essay, Coursework 畢業論文大學功課內)? Logic 建立 reasoning 而 reasoning 建立 critical thinking. Logic 基本運作在thesis, dissertation, FYP, assignment, essay, coursework, 畢業論文大學功課內 可以用以下兩例子 說明: Reasoning Logic 例子 1: Premise 1 - If all people working at ABCD in Hong Kong eat pizzas. Premise 2 - I am working at ABCD in Hong Kong.    Reasons Conclusion 結論 Conclusion: Therefore, I eat pizzas. 這是 deductive. 所有 premises 假設要 true 去推論和接受一個 true and sound 結論 .   Reasoning Logic 例子 2: Premise 1 - Pizzas sold at fastfood stalls in Hong Kong are tasteful.
